Intagram

Step-by-step link guide

How to copy an Instagram link

Copy the post’s own address for a Reel, video post or video carousel on iPhone, iPad, Android and desktop, and distinguish it from unsupported profile, Story and sign-in page links.

Intagram needs the complete, public Instagram address of a post before it can prepare a video. The correct URL normally follows https://www.instagram.com/reel/CODE/, https://www.instagram.com/p/CODE/, or /tv/ for an older video. A user profile, home feed, audio page or Story address does not identify one supported video post, so it cannot serve the same purpose. The steps below help you take the link from the right screen and perform a simple check before pasting it.

Copying a link on iPhone and iPad

Open the post on its own screen

In the Instagram app, go to the Reel or video post that you have permission to download. If you are looking at a profile grid, tap the thumbnail first to open the complete post.

Open the sharing controls

Tap the share icon below the Reel or post. Depending on the current app layout, the same action may appear under the three-dot menu.

Choose Copy link

Find the link-copying action on the share sheet. If it is not in the first row, move through the horizontal list or open the additional actions.

Return to Intagram and paste

Open Intagram in Safari, touch and hold the link field, and choose Paste. Check that the field shows a complete Instagram address containing the post code.

If the post is open in Safari, you do not have to use Instagram’s share sheet. Tap the address bar, select the entire URL and copy it. Safari may visually shorten the host while the field is inactive, but Copy places the full address on the clipboard. The important detail is that the page represents one Reel or post rather than a profile.

Copying a link on Android

Select the Reel or post

Open the public video page in the Instagram app. If you are watching it in Explore, moving to the post’s separate view makes the address easier to identify.

Use Share or the three-dot menu

Tap the share icon. If Copy link is not there, check the three-dot menu at the top; the location can vary between app versions.

Optionally check it in a browser

Open a new Chrome tab and paste the address once. A final URL shaped like instagram.com/reel/… or instagram.com/p/… confirms that it reaches the correct page.

Add the address to the tool

Tap the Intagram input and choose Paste. Remove any space added by the keyboard and make sure the address starts with https://.

Some messaging apps append ordinary tracking parameters to an Instagram share URL. They are not a problem when the underlying supported post address is intact. If the link instead uses an unexpected /share/ path, open it in Chrome first and wait for redirection to finish. Then copy the real Reel or post URL from the address bar.

Copying a link on a computer

When you use Instagram in a desktop browser, a post can appear in an overlay above the feed. Click its date, title or open-on-separate-page control first. The address bar should then contain /reel/, /p/ or /tv/, followed by the unique post code. On Windows, Ctrl+L then Ctrl+C selects and copies the whole address. On macOS, use Cmd+L then Cmd+C. Switch to the Intagram tab and paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

Do not copy an address containing only the profile, such as instagram.com/username/. The home page, Explore page, Reels feed and audio pages also do not identify one downloadable video post. Opening the individual post avoids that confusion.

Reel, regular post and carousel differences

A Reel link normally uses /reel/ and points to a single short-video page. A regular post uses /p/; it can contain one video, one photo or a multi-item carousel. Every item in a carousel shares the same post URL, so you do not need to find a separate link for each slide. When Intagram checks the carousel, it presents options only for items containing video. Photos are not converted into videos. Older IGTV pages may use /tv/.

Stories, Close Friends content, private accounts and sign-in-only pages are not equivalent to these paths and are not supported. A post may be visible inside your account but unavailable to the public when signed out. Intagram does not attempt to bypass that access control.

If the copied link does not work

  • You copied a profile: Tap the video on the profile, open the individual post, and repeat the share action.
  • You received a shortened share address: Open it in a browser and copy the final URL after the redirect completes.
  • It opens a sign-in screen: The post may be private, deleted, age- or region-restricted, or temporarily unavailable to anonymous visitors. Those controls are not bypassed.
  • A carousel produces no result: It may contain photos only. The tool does not create a video download for photos.
  • An older download button no longer opens: The source media URL may have expired. Submit the original Instagram post address again to prepare current options.
  • Extra text was pasted: Remove any message or caption copied with the link and leave only the HTTPS Instagram URL.
Security boundary: Intagram does not ask for your Instagram username, password or session cookie. It processes public video pages only. Public visibility does not grant republishing rights, so use only videos you own or have permission to download.

Use the correct link now

If your address reaches a public video page through /reel/, /reels/, /p/ or /tv/, open the Intagram tool and paste it. The result lists the MP4 options offered by the source. When quality or approximate size information is unavailable, the tool does not invent an estimate.

To understand why a multi-video carousel creates separate result buttons, read the Instagram Reels and carousel videos guide. For the complete collection and basic checks, return to the guide center.
